At times, we have all aligned success, impact and influence with our identity. At times we have all experienced our identity to be centred around a job role. But most roles are transient and change over time, so does this mean our identity needs to change accordingly?
Identify for me is about who I am, not what I do. The ‘who’ of me is made up of many elements: my beliefs and values, my capabilities, my behaviours and also my environment, as our environments can either support or hinder us. All of these elements are not just individual, but systemic. Knowing that I have had a positive impact on others is a core value, regardless of the role I’ve been in. And this for me is success.
